Maxwell Park, Oakland

Nestled among the serenity of Oakland’s Maxwell Park neighborhood, you’ll find a charming, updated, split-level c.1925 home at 3136 Kingsland Avenue.  Come on in!

Three bedrooms and one and one-half bathrooms grace this home. Add to that a sunny, updated kitchen, opening to an inviting dining and living room, with original brick fireplace and a grand front window overlooking the neighborhood. Newly-refinished hardwood floors glow throughout the home, while dual-pane windows add to the peacefulness within. Both renovated bathrooms feature cheerful tile work and pretty fixtures.

A full laundry room and bonus room are tucked away on the ‘mezzanine’ level off the kitchen, opening to the side yard.  There's one bedroom on the main, with a full bath, and another bedroom and the primary bedroom suite located a few steps up from the rest of the house, with French doors leading out to the back deck.  The backyard oasis features a redwood deck shaded by a pergola with retractable awning, with loads of space for hosting family gatherings and guests… or peaceful moments of morning coffee and yoga, or evening meals. Step from that into an urban garden, with mature lime, pomegranate, fig and peach trees, and raised bed gardens. So unexpected, and lovely for indoor/outdoor entertaining!

A one-car garage with loads of storage completes the picture. Move-in ready and minutes away from the best of the neighborhood. From local shops, restaurants, parks, theaters, and art galleries to convenient access to highways 580 and 13, public transportation—everything you need for work, play, and weekend adventures!

about this

Neighborhood

Nestled in-between High Street and 55th Avenue, just south of Interstate-580, Maxwell Park is a popular neighborhood in East Oakland. Originally developed by John P. Maxwell, many of the homes in Maxwell Park were built in the 1920s and 1930s, and when compared to real estate in North Oakland and Downtown Oakland, feature lower prices per square foot. Residents of Maxwell Park are within close proximity to Mills College, small shopping plazas, restaurants, and plenty of public transit options.

As the neighborhood name might suggest, Maxwell Park offers a small community park near Allendale Avenue and Lilac Street. Featuring plenty of trees, a playground, and is directly next to the Peter Pan Nursery School, which has provided a nurturing environment for kids aged 2-6 since 1947. Add in the convenient access to incredible schools like Melrose Leadership Academy, and you can see why families love living in Maxwell Park.

MacArthur Blvd., between Loma Vista and High Street, is just a few blocks from Maxwell Park, and features a variety of popular restaurants, retail stores, and service shops. Some of the notable restaurants include the World Ground Cafe, Fist of Flour Doughjo and Everett and Jones BBQ.

Commuters love Maxwell Park due to the easy access to the AC Transit Route 14, which provides a direct route to the Fruitvale BART station. The bus ride to Fruitvale Station is less than 15 minutes from Maxwell Park, and from here, commuting to the heart of Oakland, or be in San Francisco’s Financial District in less than 30 minutes.
